Don’t panic, but you have about a month left to master your face painting skills before Halloween! And with help from IMPACT authors Brian and Nick Wolfe, co-authors of the Extreme Face Painting, your little goblins and ghouls (or yourself) will be donning fiendish skulls and tiger stripes in no time.

With one click you can download 30 minutes of video instruction. In this 30-minute artistsnetwork.tv video workshop, you’ll learn tips for detailing and adding dimension to your faces, when and how to paint with a sponge or a brush, and more. Follow along with this preview to make your skulls look more angular and emaciated—shading black on top of all the darkest darks will push these areas deeper into the head, making the lighter areas pop even more and giving dimension to the skull.
If you like the video, it’s included in its entirety in the Extreme Face Painting book. The book is made up of 50 step-by-step demos—one half features friendly subjects (like birds, puppies and princesses), while the other is a fiendish array (like vampires, zombies and mummies).

We all love comics, right? Well, AllPosters.com has a new line of comic posters for true comic lovers. They have galleries of hip, new posters as well as vintage posters dating as far back as the 40s (which is pretty exciting). The posters range from $15 (for a basic poster) to $280 (paintings, wall murals, awesome things).
It’s definitely worth a glance if you think you might like to decorate with a bit of sentimental flair. It’s nice to be a child at heart.
Also, the North Light Shop is having a fall sale! Customers will receive an extra 10% off their purchases upon checking out. Just enter the promotional code Fall2010 and voila, an amazingly great deal. This promotion is good through October 2nd, and it does exclude magazine subscriptions (sorry folks).
Just head over and see if we’ve got any titles you’re interested in!
Have a wonderful week!

If you weren’t already aware, Robert Kirkman’s Eisner-winning comic book series The Walking Dead is being turned into a television series on AMC (the Mad Men channel). AMC recently released the key poster art for the series, which fittingly premieres Halloween night.
The show is executive produced and written by three-time Academy Award nominee Frank Darabont, who also directed The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile. It tells the story of the months and years that follow a zombie apocalypse. The story centers around small-town police officer Rick Grimes, who goes into a coma after being shot in the line of duty. When he wakes up in the hospital, something isn’t right. And that something is, surprise!, ZOMBIES! The story follows the characters as they try to survive, find other survivors and ultimately a cure for zombie-itis.
According to AMC, “The series stars Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually), Jon Bernthal (The Pacific), Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break), Laurie Holden (The Mist), Jeffrey DeMunn (The Green Mile), Steven Yeun (The Big Bang Theory) and Emma Bell (The Bedford Diaries) as a group of survivors traveling in search of a safe and secure home.”
The show looks amazing and terrifying. And the makeup is incredible. Watch the official trailer, which debuted at Comic-Con, and videos about the makeup here.
And read part of the 77th installment of the comic book series here.

Ninja Mountain Scrolls, the blog with news from “a collective of artists who work mainly in the fields of Fantasy, Horror, Science Fiction, and comics,” recently interviewed Chris Seaman and Jim Pavelec to discuss Ink Bloom. The duo talks with Ninja Mountain about their creative process and what it was like to work together. Listen to the interview on the Ninja Mountain podcast here.
In other bloggy Ink Bloom news, Chris and Jim also have their own blog up about making the book: hachihachimitsu.blogspot.com. It will post information, news and reviews about the book. Up now is a concept sketch that grew out of a conversation they had about Hachi’s companion character Pigweed.
“We felt pretty good about it so ran with it. The other is a version of Pigweed’s house. We knew that his house was going to play a roll in Hachi’s story. Here is a previously never before seen concept of Pigweed’s domicile. The original thought was for a more organic design. But decided later to make it more geometric.”
Keep up with Ink Bloom news here and on their site.
