George R.R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire series is immensely popular. Best-selling books and a highly rated HBO show have led to wide recognition. The next natural step is comics! The first book in his series, A Game of Thrones, has already been adapted into a comic. The second book in the series, A Clash of Kings, is being adapted now and the comic comes out this June.
A Clash of Kings issue #1 is published by Dynamite Entertainment and will be available for $3.99. It looks like they’ve planned a few variant covers. Personally I’m loving the one illustrated by Mark Miller featuring Melisandre, Stannis and Shireen. That one is my favorite, though it is closely followed by the striking art of Arya clutching to the Hound, illustrated by Magali Villeneuve. Marc Simonetti and Mel Rubi illustrated the other cover options.

I love all the pencil work. The scenes are well illustrated. I’m pumped for the show to come back on TV. I’ll have to check out this comic adaptation too though. It’s always interesting to see the different interpretations of characters and plot points.
