Anime is the name of the game these days and Crunchyroll isn’t the only way to watch anymore. Slowly but surely, Netflix has been contributing more to the anime genre. The Netflix anime offerings are going to be even better in the future.
Netflix announced at a conference in Tokyo that they are committing to a slate of 13 movies and series. The new anime will be available on its service worldwide in the next few years. There will be revivals of Japanese classics as well as brand new shows.

Netflix Anime Series Coming Soon
So what anime will be headed to Netflix? Thirteen titles have been announced so far.
Cannon Busters started as a comic series and then was an animated project thanks to a successful Kickstarter. The series is written by Bee and Puppycat’s Natash Allegri, Anne Toole, Nilah Magruder and creator LeSean Thomas. It follows a high-end socializing robot who teams up with a criminal and a maintenance droid to find a missing princess.
The title for this one is hilariously intriguing. The series is an adaptation of Go Nagai’s manga series Devilman. It will reimagine the early days of Akira Fudo’s career as the Devilman, a hybrid demon and human. The Devilman has to protect the world from a demonic invasion.
B: The Beginning
In a world powered by advanced technology, crime and action unfold in the archipelagic nation of Cremona. Members of the royal police force race through the fortified city as it is beset by the serial killer, Killer B.
Sword Gai: The Animation
A weapon that has drawn the blood of countless victims becomes legend, and at times takes on a life of its own. When the weapon’s host is filled with hate and murderous intent, he becomes a demonic combination that thirsts only for slaughter.
An organization has faced these dangerous beings over the centuries. A young man named Gai is destined to live as a weapon. As humans are enthralled by their weapons’ power, epic battles unfold with the fate of humanity in the balance in this battle action fantasy. The Netflix anime series will debut globally in Spring 2018.
This new sci-fi series follows 15-year-old Aiko Tachibana, who lost her family in the incident known as “The Burst” that wiped out a massive research city. Aiko learns there is a secret hidden within her. The answer lies at the center of the Burst. Coming to Netflix in Spring 2018, what will happen when a girl has the fate of humanity in her hands?
Lost Song will be a 12-part fantasy series following two woman, Rin and Finis. Rin is an energetic young girl from a village and Finis is a songstress living in the royal palace. Both have the ability to cast magic through song. Their destinies entwine and lead them on a quest to save their kingdom.
Rilakkuma is the cartoon bear known as Hello Kitty’s competitor. He can be seen on merchandise all over Japan. Now he’s getting his first anime. The Netflix anime series will be stop-motion and imagines the bear as a sentient stuffed animal of an office worker.
Knights of the Zodiac: SAINT SEIYA
An adaptation of the “Galaxy War” and “Silver Saint” arcs of Masami Kurumada’s famous sci-fantasy manga, about a team of guardian knights empowered by the constellations to defend the reincarnated Greek Goddess Athena from her fellow Olympian gods.
The Saint Seiya series was originally an anime back in the 80s. Not it will be getting new life on Netflix.
Baki will be an adaptation of Keisuke Itagaki’s Baki the Grappler. The martial art series features a young man who follows in his father’s footsteps and trains to become the strongest fighter in the world.
It’s not a surprise Netflix chose this one since the series has sold over 63 million copies.
There is one absolute rule in gambling — at the end of the day, there is a winner and a loser. This is a harsh microcosm of life in a capitalist society. People captivated by a world filled with risk.
Kakegurui is a series about ridiculously high-stakes gambling set in a cutthroat Japanese Academy dedicated to the art of playing and betting on parlor games.
Fate/Apocrypha continues the Fate/Stay series. The story revolves around the breakout of a war between two factions of powerful mages.
Children of the Whales
The series is an adaptation of a surrealist fantasy manga. A secret island has magical inhabitants. Their utopian island floats across an endless sea of sand. In the series they have contact with the outside world for the first time.
Godzilla: Monster Planet
The first animated Godzilla movie to come out of Japan is making its Western debut on Netflix. The series is set 20,000 years after Godzilla ravaged the Earth. Humanity fled to the stars. The series follows humankind banding together to try and reclaim their home from Godzilla.
