eBook Update
Hey IMPACT fans,
Unfortunately, we’ve learned that some unspeakable glitch means you can only get the free eBook for Comic Books 101 from iTunes, Barnes & Noble, Google and Sony.
Creating Comics From Start to Finish, however, is downloading just fine on all fronts so far. Our apologies for the confusion!

Comic-Con 2011!
Comic-Con is almost here! All the madness begins Thursday, the 21st, in San Diego and IMPACT will be there. The lucky people who go can attend Preview night on Wednesday to snatch all kinds of exclusive gifts. CNN.com gave us a sneak peak of these perks including never before released Indiana Jones action figures and Mattel’s very first Voltron figure.
But, in the spirit of Comic-Con, IMPACT isn’t making us wait until Wednesday for exclusive deals. Starting this Monday (7/18) through Friday (7/25), Comic Books 101 and Creating Comics from Start to Finish will be FREE ebooks. Also, there will be the some of the best IMPACT titles, including DragonWorld and Shojo Fashion Manga Art School, offered for 50% off in the North Light Shop.

So, remember to go watch Harry Potter this weekend (like anyone really needs reminded) and keep checking in for the links and full list of on-sale titles starting Monday!

deviantART at SXSW
The folks at deviantART are going to be at the SXSW music and film festival this weekend. They’re setting up a lounge called the deviantART Sandbox to showcase real-world and digital art galleries, a deviantART muro classroom, laptops to browse the site and participate in a community-wide SXSW chat, art tables and a reading corner featuring books from deviantART members. Find out more about the deviantART Sandbox at SXSW here. And if you’re lucky enough to be at SXSW, don’t forget to stop by and say hi!
Have a great weekend!

Wizard Goes Digital
You’ve probably heard it fifty times over by now and it’s true. Wizard and ToyFare magazines will stop appearing in print immediately in favor of online only Wizard World.
Our friends over at Comics Buyer’s Guide report President and CEO Gareb Shamus as saying “Wizard World will give consumers the content they want in a magazine format with which they are familiar … It is a natural evolution for us in this market.”
We’ll chalk this up to another page in the history of comics…maybe the Comic Books 101 guys will have to start thinking about another edition soon…hmmm?
Thoughts?

New Comic-Con in London!
Thinking there aren’t quite enough comic conventions? We couldn’t agree more!
Award-winning comic author Mark Millar decided that all of our conventions in the US weren’t cutting it. (Perhaps he grew tired of all that flying.) Millar’s goal is to expand the San Diego Comic-Con experience to the streets of London.
Kapow!, the new convention, is hosting the Stan Lee Awards in April 2011.
Check out the Kapow! video at Vimeo.
To follow the convention developments, see the official website.
