I love everything about cosplay. Superheroes are definitely a popular cosplay choice. I always love when people do an interesting spin on the typical costume though. Photographer Sacha Goldberger has released an amazing series of photos that takes superheroes back to the Renaissance. The series, titled Super Flemish, imagines today’s popular superheroes and sci-fi characters in a different time, the 16th century. The portraits are beautiful images and they have just the right atmosphere for the desired effect. It took a lot of people to create this series. Between the makeup, the costumes, the models and the hair, it clearly took a lot of work to make this happen. I think the end result is worth it though. Definitely make sure to check out the full series on Sacha’s official website and Facebook, but here are a few of my favorites.
I love the little details like the tears on Wolverine’s costume and the texture on Iron Man’s jacket. It’s also really incredible how the makeup and hair artists made the models look like certain people. That picture of Princess Leia looks just like Carrie Fisher, and Superman looks exactly like Christopher Reeve. I’m extremely impressed with the work in these photos.
