Artist Uses Unreal Engine to Bring Legend of Zelda to Life

Unreal Engine is a pretty fascinating technology. I remember playing the Unreal game when it came out and being pretty impressed with the game mechanics and visuals. The game engine has made great strides since then and now with Unreal Engine 4, tons of people are showcasing amazing creations. I’ve seen people use the game engine to create environments where Pokemon run around or just super realistic environments that you won’t believe were digitally created.

The Legend of Zelda has always been and will probably always be a popular game. Ocarina of Time was pretty groundbreaking in story and graphics at the time and it has continued to live on long after its release. I know it’s still one of my favorites. I love playing it, even with the old N64 graphics. Michael Eurek is a visual effects artist, and he used the Unreal Engine to bring the world of Legend of Zelda to life. It’s so beautiful. Check out his work in creating Zora’s Domain and the Temple of Time.

Anyone else wishing for a full playable game with these beautiful realistic graphics? I would absolutely play this for hours and hours. Running around in this environment would be so much fun. I can’t believe the amount of detail that Michael created. The flowing water, the waving leaves and grass, the beams of light, the dust motes in the air of the temple, the gold on the owls, the stone of the temple. Everything is so perfectly created. I am definitely impressed! Nintendo, hire this guy right away and get me my lovely 3-D realistic Zelda game please!

  1. Time Frost

I think Nintendo was considering about this, but they wanted to bring nostalgic auras from the original game system.
    Other than that, it’s marvelous.
