Manga Monday: 3D Tribute to Hayao Miyazaki

As I’m sure you guys know by now, I really do love Hayao Miyazaki’s work. Those movies had a serious impact on me both as a kid and an adult! We’ve posted about some of the lovely tributes we’ve seen before including a 2D one. But now a beautiful 3D tribute to Miyazaki’s characters and worlds has been created.

Vimeo user Dono created 3D environments for the 2D characters to interact with. It’s a very interesting mesh of the two different styles, but it really works. I love seeing how Miyazaki’s work has influenced so many people. Each one of these new tributes that pop up just make me smile.

The intro with the train was just perfect. It pulls you into that 3D world so well, and I love the timing of the lights with the music. Now I just want to re-watch all the Studio Ghibli films! Marathon anyone?
Miyazaki has retired, but he is apparently interested in trying a 3D project with computer animation instead of his typical 2D. Though I love the hand drawn 2D animation, I will be happy to have anything from him! Would you watch a 3D movie from him? Who are your favorite characters from the Studio Ghibli films?
