Manga Monday: All Gundam Anime is Coming To America!

I love the Gundam anime. Epic battles, giant mech warriors, what’s not to love? I grew up watching a lot of Gundam anime. I have a particular fondness for Gundam Wing. I also watched G Gundam and Gundam Seed. There was a big Gundam anime panel at New York Comic Con this year and it was announced that the whole franchise is coming to the US! Sunrise, a Japanese animation studio, has the rights to the franchise. They will be re-releasing old series, like the original Mobile Suit Gundam, and they’ll also be releasing some of the series, Turn a Gundam and Gundam ZZ, on home video for the first time ever.

Basically right now it’s a good time to be a fan of the Gundam anime. The concept is so popular that Japan even has gigantic Gundam statues. You can also argue that the Gundam idea inspired Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim. I will never object to giant fighting robots in a story. I always loved the design of the Gundams and how each one was different to match the pilot. I definitely have my favorites.
