Manga Monday: My Neighbor Totoro

I know I’ve posted about Hayao Miyazaki before, but I just can’t resist! I’m such a huge fan. Today I want to celebrate all things Totoro! It’s the 25th anniversary of the movie, My Neighbor Totoro. This movie was absolutely a part of my childhood just as much as the classic Disney movies were. I still want a giant Totoro to cuddle with and a Catbus to take me around the country.

To celebrate the anniversary of the film, two books are being released. A novelization of the movie is now available featuring original watercolor illustrations by Miyazaki and a story by author Tsugiko Kubo. You can also buy an updated picture book with artwork from the movie.

My Neighbor Totoro has inspired many people to create wonderful things. There have been great cosplays, fan art and many other creations. Here are a few favorites that I’ve stumbled across.
