Manga Monday: Robotech Movie Back in Development

Anyone else remember the Robotech anime? I was definitely a fan of all the mech warrior shows. Robotech, Gundam Wing, Neon Genesis Evangelion. Give me giant fighting robots and I’m happy! Well now it looks like Robotech could be coming to the big screen. Warner Brothers is working on a live-action adaptation of the anime. The original anime was from the 80s and featured mecha that fought invasions. This series was definitely one that introduced more American kids to anime and to some more adult themes compared to the other cartoons of the time.

The Robotech series has long been popular and talk of a live-action adaptation has been on and off for a while. Now Deadline has reported that Michael Gordon (300 and GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra) is working on the script and Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton will be producing. So it looks like Warner Brothers is really trying to get this project moving. Would you be excited to see a live-action adaptation of this classic anime?
