Alan Becker has been creating all of Hayao Miyazaki‘s film Spirited Away in the game Minecraft. He’s progressed further on building the world from Spirited Away, which you can see our original write up of here, and now he’s jumped to My Neighbor Totoro. He’s calling it the giant builds The Ghibli World Project, and I love it. Alan has done an amazing job recreating the world of My Neighbor Totoro in Minecraft. The comparison between the film and the video game scenes are spot on.
The Ghibli World Project brings together a team picked by Alan who are building the different parts of the Ghibli worlds. It’s amazing seeing the creativity and determination of these artists to put together these worlds. You can read about the project here on Alan’s website and here are a few video updates. I’m particularly excited about the Howl’s Moving Castle update. That one has always been a favorite of mine. I wonder if they’ll do Kiki’s Delivery Service. That one has stunning scenery as well.
