Animals are always cute. Baby animals are even better. Miniature paintings of baby animals? Now you’ve hit the jackpot.
Since 2015, Russian artist and self-described tiny artist Irene Malakhova has been creating miniature paintings. Her tiny pieces are often about the size of a quarter, measuring just a single square inch. Using watercolor as her main medium, she has many miniature paintings inspired by animals. You can search the collection with her #tiny_creaturesdays hashtag.
Miniature Paintings, From Animals to Objects
Malakhova’s series of paintings range from cuddly animals like kittens and puppies to more exotic creatures like foxes, pandas and insects. Each one is meticulously painted and has amazing detail. The tiniest of brush strokes defines an expressive face or fuzzy tail. Check out a few of our favorites below.
Animal paintings are clearly a passion for Malakhova, but perusing her Instagram feed you’ll see other topics painted in miniature. Still life paintings, landscapes, food and pop culture imagery are also shrunk down to become tiny pieces.
She calls her pieces the Tiny Worlds Living project and has an Etsy shop of the same name where you can purchase her art. Make sure to look through her Instagram feed for more gorgeous miniature paintings.
